St Kitts vs Grenada vs Antigua vs Dominica: The Caribbean Programmes Compared

The four main Caribbean citizenship programmes look almost identical from a distance. Each grants direct citizenship in roughly half a year, each is funded by a non-refundable contribution to the state, and each produces a passport with strong access to Europe and the UK. The marketing for all four is close to interchangeable.

Up close they diverge on three things that matter: what they cost, whether they ask anything of you afterwards, and one or two features that only exist in a single programme. Here is the comparison, using our listed prices.

The numbers

The whole field sits inside a $50,000 band. For most people making this decision, that spread is not the deciding factor, which is worth saying plainly because a great deal of writing on this subject behaves as though it is.

What actually separates them

Grenada has the E-2 treaty

Grenada is the only Caribbean citizenship programme whose passport gives access to the United States E-2 investor visa. An E-2 lets a national of a treaty country enter and live in the US while running a business they have invested in, renewably, without going near a green card queue.

If a US presence is part of your plan, this single feature outweighs every price difference in the table. If it is not, it is irrelevant. There is no middle position, which makes Grenada the easiest of the four to rule in or out.

St Kitts has the record and the reach

The oldest programme, running since 1984, and the widest visa-free access at 147 destinations. What you are paying the premium for is institutional familiarity. Compliance departments, correspondent banks, and consulates have been looking at St Kitts passports for forty years, and a document that raises no questions is worth something that is hard to price until the moment you need it.

Antigua asks you to visit, and prices families well

Antigua is the only one of the four with a presence requirement, and it is a light one: five days within the first five years. One holiday satisfies it for good.

In exchange, Antigua has historically been the most economical option for larger families, because of how it prices dependants rather than because of its headline figure. If you are applying as a family of four or more, the ranking in the table above can invert. Get a real quote before assuming the cheapest single-applicant price is the cheapest household price.

Dominica is the cost floor

The lowest all-in price in the region, no presence requirement, and the fastest published processing window at three to six months. The visa-free count is the narrowest of the four, though the difference is at the margins rather than in the destinations most people care about.

Dominica is the right answer when the objective is a legitimate second citizenship at the lowest defensible cost, and there is no US angle and no institutional-scrutiny concern driving the decision. The things all four share

Every one of these is direct citizenship. There is no residency stage, no qualifying period, and no requirement to relocate. That is the entire reason the Caribbean route exists, and it is the cleanest distinction between these programmes and anything in Europe. Every one is a non-refundable contribution. The money is gone. You are buying a status, not holding an asset. Real-estate routes exist in most of these countries at higher entry points, and they come with an asset you may eventually be able to sell, but they also come with a holding period, a market, and an exit problem. Most of our clients take the contribution route for the same reason: it ends.

And for every one, none of this changes your tax position by itself. A Caribbean passport is not a tax residency and does not detach you from the system you currently file in. If that is part of what you are trying to achieve, read tax residency versus citizenship before you go any further, because the two are routinely conflated and the mistake is expensive.

How to choose, in one paragraph

If you want a US business presence, take Grenada. If the passport will be presented to banks and institutions where friction is costly, or if maximum mobility is the objective, take St Kitts. If you are moving a family of four or more, price Antigua properly before deciding, because dependant pricing can beat the headline. If you want the lowest legitimate cost and none of the above apply, take Dominica.

Choose on the constraint that actually binds: a US business, an institution that will scrutinise the document, or the size of your family.
